Types

Healthy people
between the ages of 17 and 60 (up to 71 if a person is a regular
donor) can donate blood every 56 days. It usually takes about
one hour to be registered at the clinic, donate blood, rest,
take refreshments and be on your way. Giving blood affects one
very little, beyond a well earned feeling of personal satisfaction.

History of the Masonic
Blood Donors Committee:
In the address
to the 103rd Annual Communications of Grand Lodge the Late
M.W. Bro. Harry L. Martyn formed a Special Committee called
The Blood Donor's Committee.
The terms of reference were; "The purpose of the committee
is to assist agencies working in this field and to keep identified
with their wonderful work."
The task of this committee is to ensure that all Masons know
about the work of Canadian Blood Services and to encourage
the giving of blood.
It also compiles statistics from every lodge for presentation
to Grand Lodge.
It is important therefore that each lodge obtains accurate
statistics as to the number of donations by members, friends
and their families.
The statistics assembled by the lodge are gathered together
by the District Chairman and then forwarded to the Grand Lodge
Chairman. --The Masonic Manual |
